What is Scan2?
Today' s highly competitive and highly computerized
businesses demand the ability to make sound business
decisions based on all the relevant information.
Unfortunately, even in highly computerized environments,
it' s still difficult to find all of that information
quickly. With scanned images, you may be able
to find a specific document if you know the file
name or date created, but can you easily search
for information contained within the actual scanned
bitmapped image? Think about the variety of pages
that can be scanned: text, graphics, hand-written
notes, and barcodes. Then think about all of the
scanned image files you have and trying to find
just one little, but important piece of information
buried in one of those files. How long would it
take you? Is it worth the time? Sure. But, we
have a better, faster way to help you find the
information. It's Scan2, an optional add-in module
for Alchemy Gold and Alchemy Premium. Scan2 captures
and indexes scanned documents.
Capturing Images
It's easy. With Scan2 you're in charge. You'll
have the highest quality images stored in the
most efficient manner possible. Scan2 includes
OCR technology to convert paper into electronic
words and numbers that end users can then search.
Scan2 works with Alchemy Gold in smaller environments
with one scanner or with Alchemy Premium in larger
environments with multiple scanning stations.

Barcodes? No Problem
With Scan2 you can scan barcodes into an Alchemy
Repository making the barcodes objects that can
be searched by your employees. For example, if
your supply chain process includes steps to capture
the shipping labels on everything you receive,
Scan2 can capture this image and store it in a
Repository. Then Alchemy users in your Accounts
Payable department can quickly and easily reconcile
accounts with your suppliers by searching the
Repository based on a shipping bar code. The search
will bring back all documents referencing this
information. In this example, your employees spend
less time searching for specific documents and
more time solving the real business issues at
hand.
High-Volume Scanning Needs?

scanning equipment manufactures to ensure the
needs of larger image capture environments are
addressed. Top-of-the-line scanning hardware can
be integrated with Alchemy using Scan2. So, whether
