If you're managing or archiving records, Alchemy
can help by maintaining data in its original file
format with easy-to-access repositories. Once
your search finds an object, it can be opened
and viewed in its native program. For example,
if the object is a Microsoft Excel file, Alchemy
automatically launches Excel and displays all
the spreadsheet information. Alchemy handles thousands
of file types and does not modify files or use
wrappers.
You can quickly integrate Alchemy with mission
critical applications such as Customer Relationship
Management. Integration allows you to take full
advantage of the Pivotal application while adding
the benefits of accessing unstructured data. For
example, when you receive a call from a customer,
Alchemy allows you to review the customer's entire
history on the screen including faxed orders,
engineering drawings in AutoCAD or a copy of a
scanned check.

Alchemy uses repositories to manage unstructured
data, and gives you a variety of ways to capture,
index, store and archive data.
Once the objects are in an Alchemy Repository,
the administrator can organize the data in any
number of powerful ways. For example, the Repository
can be divided into smaller components based on
project needs or several repositories can be consolidated
into one master repository. A repository can be
separated into timeframes and then archived to
CD for reporting, auditing, or customer service
needs. The flexibility of Alchemy makes the possibilities
endless.

an administrator creates repositories, and up
